Their example gave me the courage to run for office, becoming one of the first Native American women elected to Congress and the first Native American Cabinet Secretary in our nation's history. Now, I'm running to become the first Native American woman elected Governor in the United States — not just to make history, but to make a difference.
We're making progress, friend. More and more people have a voice in the decisions that shape our future, and we're not giving up our seats at the table. I'm running because I believe every New Mexican deserves to be heard, especially when Washington gets it wrong, and I'll always stand up for working families, no matter who they are or where they live.
