Opening ANWR to oil & gas drilling will be devastating!
John,
Did you see my email below?
The Trump administration is forcing through plans to open up the irreplaceable Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) to oil and gas drilling.
Make no mistake: oil and gas drilling will devastate this treasured public land, its wildlife and other sensitive resources that the Native Gwich’in people depend on. But we will not let this stand.
The Trump administration is forcing through plans to open up the irreplaceable Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) in Alaska to oil and gas drilling.
The Arctic is already experiencing some of the worst effects of climate chaos on the planet. The region is battling a prolonged heatwave and unprecedented wildfires. Now Trump wants to make a dangerous situation worse by selling off this wildlife refuge to the highest oil and gas bidders.
Oil and gas drilling would harm ANWR's water, wildlife and other sensitive resources that the Native Gwich’in people of the Arctic depend on. But we will not let this stand.
ANWR is one of the most biodiverse regions on the planet. It is home to polar, grizzly and black bears, more than 200 species of birds, 8 marine mammal species, and iconic northern species like caribou, wolves, muskoxen and moose. Many of these species, already endangered, need the unique and irreplaceable habitat found in ANWR to survive and flourish. And these animals are essential to the traditional way of life of Indigenous Alaska Native people who have lived in this area for millennia.
Oil and gas drilling on the Coastal Plain would have devastating impacts on this treasured public land, on its wildlife and on the human rights of Indigenous people.
John, public pressure works. It is public pressure that has kept oil and gas interests from drilling in the ANWR for the past 20 years, and it is public pressure from the Gwich'in people and activists like us that will keep the Trump administration from allowing drilling in this pristine national treasure. Almost 15,000 Food & Water Action supporters have already taken action against this reckless and irresponsible decision, but we need to do more to save the Arctic from Trump and his Big Oil & Gas cronies. We can — and we will — stop them!
Your support and generosity make it possible to send our activists to Washington, support our fights in the courts, and organize protests virtually and in the streets — all to stop Trump from selling the beautiful natural resources like ANWR to his Big Oil & Gas friends. We will fight Trump and his fossil fuel cronies at every turn.
