Join us for additional trainings to stop and respond to
anti-Asian/American and xenophobic harassment

Dear friends,

Thank you to all of you who have attended our initial bystander intervention trainings these past few months. Unfortunately, incidents of anti-Asian and anti-Asian American and xenophobic harassment continue to be seen across the country. If you witness or experience hate, please consider reporting to StandAgainstHatred.org

Repeated use of racist terms like Kung Flu and China virus, against the advice of public health officials who urge us to use the correct terms “coronavirus” and “COVID-19”, has led the Asian and Asian American community to continue to experience harassment, discrimination, and violence during this COVID-19 pandemic.

Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC continues to partner with Hollaback! for virtual workshops on bystander intervention, and together, we’ve trained 15,000 allies ready to take action and to be bystanders in action when they see hate! If you’ve taken the bystander Intervention training we offer with Hollaback!, sign up for additional trainings on addressing anti-Asian/American harassment, or tell a friend to attend. Thank you all for your support and for standing up for communities experiencing hate.

Bystander Intervention to Stop Anti-Asian/American Harassment
The one-hour, interactive training will teach you Hollaback!’s 5D’s of bystander intervention methodology. You’ll learn what to look for and the positive impact that bystander intervention has on individuals and communities. You’ll leave feeling more confident intervening the next time you see anti-Asian/American harassment online or in person.

Bystander Intervention 2.0: Conflict De-Escalation
If you’ve already taken our bystander intervention training and you’re looking to go deeper into how to directly intervene and de-escalate conflict: this training is for you. We’ll learn how to identify potential conflict before it escalates using our “pyramid of escalation” and how to assess whether intervening is the right action for you. We’ll talk about specific biases that are increasing conflict, harassment, and violence during COVID-19 — and the role of implicit and explicit bias in conflict.

How to Respond to Harassment
For People Experiencing Anti-Asian/American Harassment

After attending our bystander intervention trainings, many Asian/Americans want to know — how do I take care of myself when I experience harassment? During this one-hour, highly interactive training you’ll learn Hollaback!’s methodology for responding to harassment: 1) Trust your Instincts, 2) Reclaim Your Space, and 3) Practice Resilience.

You’ll leave with new tools on how to respond to harassment, whether your response is in the moment while that harassment is happening or long-term.
