Dear Friend,

Last week Governor Cuomo signed into law sweeping election reforms that will make it easier for New Yorkers to vote and be counted in November. Now any New Yorker who has concerns about the Coronavirus can vote by mail in November.

Here’s what you need to know:

Voting by Mail

√ To vote by mail, you must request an absentee ballot, even if you voted by mail in the June primaries. www.elections.ny.gov/VotingAbsentee.html
√ You can select the reason as “Temporary illness or disability” due to the risk of contracting the Coronavirus. (Unless you are already on the permanent absentee voter list due to long-term disability or illness.)
√  Request your ballot early to give the Board of Elections as much time as possible to process your request. www.elections.ny.gov/VotingAbsentee.html
√ Once you receive your ballot, you can either drop off your ballot at your local poll site or local Board of Elections office. Or mail it back as soon as you can!
√ If you request an absentee ballot, you are still eligible to vote in person. www.elections.ny.gov/VotingAbsentee.html

Voting in Person

√ You can skip the lines on Election Day, November 3rd, by voting early.
√ New Yorkers can vote early October 24 - November 1.
√ Early voting sites will be announced soon.
√ If you vote in person, you must wear a mask.

Because of the unprecedented attack on the USPS by the federal government and COVID-19 threatening our ability to have safe, in-person voting, these measures are critical to ensuring a successful and fair election.

Your vote matters especially at one of the most important moments in our nation's history. Everyone should be able to exercise the fundamental right to vote without risking their health.

Ever Upward,
Team Cuomo
