Friend,
For the first time since 1790, the U.S. Census is being cut short.

The U.S. Constitution mandates a count of all persons living in the United States once every ten years. Data from this count is used throughout the next decade to determine allocation of resources, political representation, and the infrastructure of our communities including the placement of hospitals and grocery stores.

This year, for the first time since 1790, the United States Census is being cut short. Initially scheduled to end on October 31, the final date to complete the 2020 Census is now September 30. This goes against the advice of Census experts and career professionals at the Census Bureau.

Currently, fewer than 65% of all persons living in the U.S. have been counted. [[link removed]] If the Census ended today, 35% of people living in the United States would not have representation in Congress for the next decade. 35% of us would not be considered when the government allocates billions of dollars in federal funding.

Census data impacts our children's educations, our community's health and wellbeing, our businesses, and our ability to effectively advocate for ourselves and our families. We must push back against a shortened Census and demand a complete and accurate count of all persons in the U.S.
