JOhn, it’s been one year since House Republicans passed Trump’s One Big Ugly Bill that has made life less and less affordable for working Americans.
While Trump and Republicans promised that the bill would benefit the working and middle class and protect essential programs, it did the opposite. It enacted the deepest cuts to Medicaid in U.S. history, forced countless rural hospitals to close, and drove up costs on everything from healthcare to energy to food.
That is why I am focused on winning re-election, securing a Democratic majority in Congress, and creating a Big Beautiful Repeal that gets us back in the business of fighting for working families.

This disastrous legislation was a betrayal of the promises this administration made to the American people. It increased costs on the things that everyday Americans rely on, like:
* Healthcare – by letting existing Affordable Care Act tax credits expire, this bill sent premiums skyrocketing for millions of Americans who depended on the ACA marketplace for coverage.
* Food – by enacting the largest cut to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program in history, this bill ripped food assistance away from vulnerable low-income families, children, seniors, and veterans.
* Energy – by terminating clean energy investments, this bill drove up costs, and killed American jobs, and undermined American-made energy.
* Borrowing – by limiting repayment options for new student loan borrowers and increasing costs for mortgages and small businesses, this bill made the American dream harder to reach.
And despite House Republicans pretending that passing this legislation was necessary to save costs, it actually added $4 trillion (that’s $4,000,000,000,000 ) to the national debt.
The bottom line: Trump doesn’t understand how unaffordable life is and, even worse, he and the Republican Party don’t care.
I came to Congress because I believe Virginians deserve a country they can afford.
We have 74 days to go until voting starts in the midterms, and I'll be spending every one of them fighting to keep my seat blue and help flip seats across the Commonwealth and the country so we can deliver the Democratic majority Americans deserve.
