Contact Me Here Celebrating America 250 As we celebrate America's 250th birthday this Independence Day, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and vision of the patriots who founded the greatest nation the world has ever known. Our country was built on timeless principles of God given rights, individual liberty, and self government, and those ideals continue to inspire generations of Americans. Here in NY-24, the patriots, abolitionists, reformers, farmers, workers, and families who helped build our communities also helped shape the story of our nation. As we gather with family and friends to celebrate this historic milestone, let us remember that the freedoms we enjoy today were secured through sacrifice and must be protected for generations to come. Happy 250th Birthday, America, and may God continue to bless the United States of America! Urging Governor Hochul to Pursue Federal Border Security Funding for New York Governor Kathy Hochul is leaving critical federal border security funding on the table that would strengthen our northern border and better equip law enforcement to keep New Yorkers safe. That's why I sent a letter urging her administration to apply for nearly $10 billion in available funding through the State Border Security Reinforcement Fund before the July 6 deadline. These resources would help local law enforcement combat drug trafficking, human trafficking, illegal immigration, and other cross border crime along the U.S.-Canada border. There is no excuse for refusing federal funding that would strengthen public safety and support the couragous men and women who protect our communities every day. I will continue fighting to ensure our law enforcement officers have every available tool they need to defend our border and keep New Yorkers safe. Joining Bipartisan Effort to Modernize Agricultural Workforce Program, Strengthen America's Food Supply A strong agricultural workforce is essential to keeping family farms productive, strengthening our food supply, and supporting rural communities across NY-24. I recently joined a bipartisan group of lawmakers to introduce the Securing Agriculture's Workforce Act, which modernizes the outdated H-2A program by expanding eligibility to include dairy farms, streamlining the application process, reducing unnecessary bureaucracy, and providing greater certainty for producers. These commonsense reforms will help farmers access the temporary workforce they need while preserving H-2A as a legal, temporary program without amnesty. Our farmers deserve policies that allow them to focus on feeding America, not navigating outdated government red tape. As your representative in Congress, my top priority is championing legislative initiatives that benefit you and your families. Each week, I review numerous bills and letters, engaging in thorough discussions with members of our community to determine which actions to support and address your needs. Below are a few bills I recently cosponsored. H.Res. 483, Recognizing the 250th birthday of the United States Army: This resolution would recognize the 250th birthday of the United States Army and honor the service and sacrifice of the soldiers who have defended the Nation since the Army’s establishment. For 250 years, the United States Army has stood as a symbol of courage, duty, and selfless service. This resolution honors the legacy of America’s soldiers and celebrates the Army’s enduring commitment to defending the United States. H.R. 1313, the One Flag for All Act: This bill would prohibit the flying, draping, or other display of any flag other than the flag of the United States at covered public buildings, subject to specified exceptions authorized under federal law such as military flags and the National League of Families POW/MIA flag. Our flag is the nation's foremost symbol of unity, freedom, and national identity. This legislation helps establish consistent standards for the display of flags at public buildings. H.R. 951, the 250 Years of Service and Sacrifice Commemorative Coin Act: This bill would require the Department of the Treasury to mint and issue commemorative coins in recognition of the 250th anniversary of the United States Army, United States Navy, and United States Marine Corps. The 250th anniversary of our Armed Forces is an opportunity to honor the generations of men and women who have defended our Nation since its founding. This legislation seeks to commemorate their service and sacrifice while preserving America's military heritage. My Votes Explained Transparency in Congress and a well-informed electorate are vital to preserving our self-governing Constitutional Republic. My constituents deserve to know how their members of Congress vote, which is why I have explained every vote I have cast in Congress since I was first elected. To read more about my votes and see the full list with explanations of all the legislation considered this week by the House, please click here. Monday, June 29 I voted "Yes" on H.R. 7757, the KIDS Act. This bill establishes a nationwide framework to protect minors online. Specifically, this legislation requires age verification for adult websites, directs platforms to establish and enforce policies that address harms to minors, strengthens parental controls and default safety settings, and expands privacy protections for children. Additionally, this bill regulates how artificial intelligence chatbots interact with minors, increases enforcement authority for federal and state regulators, authorizes research and education on best practices for keeping kids safe online, and increases transparency surrounding certain data brokers. Importantly, this legislation does not override states that have enacted or seek to enact stronger protections. As a mother, I understand parents' concerns about harmful technologies, and for far too long, online predators have been allowed to target our kids, and mismatched policies across states have left gaps in protections. This bill puts parents back in control, sets baseline standards for technology platforms, and gives families the tools they need to safeguard their children online, while allowing states the flexibility to enact stricter policies. Protecting our children is not a partisan issue, and this legislation is a first step toward ensuring there are real safeguards against the predators and harmful online content our kids face every single day. This bill passed the House by a vote of 267-117. I voted "Yes" on H.R. 7128, the TRIA Program Reauthorization Act of 2026. This bill extends the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program through 2034. The program was created after the September 11th attacks, and works as a partnership between the federal government and private insurers. If a certified terrorist attack causes major insured losses, the government helps cover part of the cost, which keeps terrorism insurance available and affordable for businesses across the country. The bill also requires the Treasury Department to notify the public when it is deciding whether an attack qualifies under the program, and it sets a 90-day deadline for the Department to decide. This bill also makes changes to add transparency and efficiency to a program intended to provide resources in the event of a terrorist attack. By giving the insurance market long-term certainty, this bill protects businesses and workers if, God forbid, a terrorist attack occurs. This bill passed the House by a vote of 373-15. Tuesday, June 30 H.Res. 1399, Directing the Committee on Ethics to preserve and publicly release records relating to monetary settlements involving acts of sexual harassment. This resolution mandates that the Committee on Ethics disclose a list of Members of Congress that have been involved in cases involving sexual harassment or sexual abuse and the amount of taxpayer funds included in settlements, payments, reimbursements, or awards with respect to the offense. For too long, taxpayers have been forced to cover for Members who commit disgusting acts. Members’ failure to control themselves and act in accordance with House Rules should not cost taxpayers a dime. This resolution will bring much needed transparency and accountability, providing the American people with the information they deserve. This resolution passed by a vote of 420-0, with one member voting present. H.Con.Res. 108, Directing the President pursuant to section 5(c) of the War Powers Resolution to remove United States Armed Forces from hostilities in Lebanon. This resolution would mandate President Trump to withdraw all U.S. Armed Forces from Lebanon pursuant to the War Powers Resolution. First and foremost, the United States is not actively engaged in conflict in Lebanon. Currently, the only U.S. service members in Lebanon are protecting the U.S. Embassy and training the Lebanese Armed Forces, Lebanon’s domestic military tasked with dismantling and disarming Hezbollah. This resolution is nearly identical to H.Con.Res. 84 which the House rejected less than a month ago. This resolution is yet another dilatory attempt by radical Democrats to obstruct President Trump’s efforts to bring peace to the Middle East. As a result of President Trump’s efforts, Lebanon and Israel are holding direct peace negotiations, previously unthinkable. I strongly opposed this unnecessary and wasteful resolution and was glad to see it defeated. This resolution failed by a vote of 189-235. USACE Change in Command Ceremony Our team was honored to attend the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District Change of Command Ceremony recognizing the transition of leadership from Lt. Col. Robert M. Burnham to Lt. Col. Aaron F. Anderson. We thank Lt. Col. Burnham for his dedicated service and leadership over the past two years and congratulate Lt. Col. Anderson as he assumes command of the Buffalo District. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plays a vital role in maintaining critical infrastructure, strengthening our waterways, and supporting economic growth across Western and Central New York. I look forward to continuing to work with the Buffalo District as they carry out their important mission in service to our communities and our nation. The Company Store Ribbon Cutting at Onanda Park Recently, our team joined the ribbon cutting for The Company Store's new Onanda Outpost at Onanda Park in Canandaigua. This new location will make it even easier for families, campers, and visitors to enjoy one of the Finger Lakes' most beautiful parks by providing convenient access to food, camping supplies, and other essentials without leaving the park. It was a pleasure for our office to present a congressional certificate to owners Ben and Kristen in recognition of this exciting milestone and to celebrate another investment that enhances recreation, supports local tourism, and strengthens our community. Congratulations to everyone who helped make this project a reality!
