I grew up in a family that loved this country even when the country didn't always love them back. That shaped everything I believe.
Patriotism is not waving a flag around. It's not a boast. It's not telling your neighbors you're better than them.
You cannot love your country if you hate half of the people in it.
Real patriotism means lifting each other up. Improving each other's lives. Knowing this country is great — and working together to make it even greater, because more people will benefit from that.
