Dear John,
We know there are a lot of things happening in the world right now amid the pandemic. Violence, civil unrest, natural disasters, and so much else. In these troubled times, the Boundary Waters has been a place where people can retreat for a few days or a week for solace, before heading back into this difficult world reinvigorated and more prepared to meet its daily challenges. That's why it was so devastating to learn that Members of Congress improperly pressured federal agencies during the renewal of Twin Metals’ mining leases on the doorstep of the Boundary Waters Wilderness.

Emails from U.S. Congressmen expose dirty deal favoring the
dangerous Twin Metals mine
We’ve recently learned that Members of Congress, including Tom Emmer and Pete Stauber, improperly pressured federal agencies during the renewal of Twin Metals’ mining leases on the doorstep of the Boundary Waters Wilderness. This political interference corrupts the proper decision-making process, so that rather than serving the American people, the Trump Administration is doing the bidding of Chilean-mining billionaires.
This is NOT acceptable.
We will not tolerate this act of political interference that puts our iconic Wilderness pure waters at risk. We need your help NOW to protect the Boundary Waters. [[link removed]]
Today, Northeastern Minnesotans for Wilderness, the leader of the Campaign to Save the Boundary Waters, and several partners filed an amended complaint in one of our key lawsuits, alleging undue political interference by Members of Congress including Tom Emmer and Pete Stauber in the Twin Metals lease renewals that threaten the Boundary Waters Wilderness.
"Time after time we have seen the Trump administration bend to the will of the rich, elite, and politically connected when it comes to the fate of America's most popular Wilderness. The administration has cancelled important studies and hidden critical scientific information, it has short-circuited environmental review, and it has jumped every time this foreign mining company says, ‘hop’.”
-Tom Landwehr, Executive Director of the Campaign to Save the Boundary Waters. ”
The Trump administration is doing everything it can to pave the way for this toxic mining project to move forward. Please help this fight! Take action and rush your donation today.
