Dear friends,

Sudan is in a race against starvation . Please don't look away.

In the middle of war, mass murder, and extreme sexual violence, millions of families are running for their lives -- straight into the arms of hunger.825,000 children are now facing severe acute malnutrition, the deadliest form of starvation . Children wake up crying from no food and simple infections can be lethal.
Community kitchens have been a golden lifeline . While governments ignore the horror, teachers, nurses, and neighbours have stepped up. They cook, give basic medical care, and keep entire communities alive.
But now almost half have shut down due to a lack of funds . It's a death sentence.
This is an urgent appeal to fund community kitchens and clinics in Sudan -- and accelerate Avaaz's campaign to expose those fuelling the war and demand international action.

Thanks to donations from Avaaz members, we've already helped more than 420,000 people. We've funded the only food available for thousands of families in parts of Darfur, where hunger is extreme .

But children are still starving right now. Community kitchens are crying for help -- and we cannot abandon them.
If you want to make a difference in the world, supporting these volunteer kitchens is guaranteed to help families facing the worst hunger crisis on Earth. Please donate what you can now :

We just spoke to a volunteer at one of the community kitchens. She asked us to pass on this message:
"Your support is not just numbers on paper -- it reaches real people during some of the hardest moments of their lives. Every contribution you've made has helped a family or supported a patient when they desperately needed it. You may not always see the results yourselves, but we do. We see the relief, the gratitude, and the hope that your support brings. Thank you."

Your donation will help keep community kitchens running, while accelerating major campaigns to expose the war's backers and force international action. If we raise enough, we could:
Give Sudan’s frontline responders emergency funding to keep providing lifesaving food and medical aid to their communities and support for survivors of sexual violence; Accelerate hard-hitting investigations to expose the international backers and beneficiaries of the war , revealing how countries like the UAE are supplying weapons and fuelling atrocities in Sudan; Support journalists and human rights monitors to report on mass atrocities and document war crimes , collecting evidence that could be used in the world’s top courts; Escalate our campaign to end the war , pushing for government intervention to protect civilians and release a flood of humanitarian aid. As a vicious civil war starves millions of children, families across Sudan can’t wait. Our support is more vital than ever -- please donate what you can now :

None of us can end this war alone. And we can't reach every family in need. But together, we can make sure that more children are fed, more patients are treated, and more families know they have not been abandoned.

At a time when so much of the world seems to be pulling apart, that's what this community represents: millions of us, across every border and divide, choosing not to look away. Whether you're able to donate today or not, thank you for being part of that.
With fierce hope and determination,
Kaitlin, Mike, John, Will, Shayna, and the whole team at Avaaz🕊️ What Our Donations Have Made Possible in Sudan We've funded dozens of community kitchens and clinics across Sudan. These volunteer-run networks are the most effective way of getting aid into frontline communities cut off by war and hunger. By funding these community groups directly, our donations have already reached more than 420,000 people with food, medicine, and emergency shelter. We launched the to shine a global spotlight on this crisis. Working with Sudanese journalists, photographers, fact-checkers, and frontline sources, we're gathering reports from across the country and feeding them to global newsrooms. We've had dozens of stories on major outlets in recent months including the BBC, The Guardian, and The New York Times -- bringing atrocities to light and increasing pressure on governments to act. We're funding investigations to expose the foreign powers that are fuelling Sudan's civil war. These investigations will be used by Avaaz to push for international sanctions, arms embargoes, and ultimately hold war criminals accountable in the world's highest courts. We're forcing political action for Sudan. Avaaz is meeting with key decision-makers in the UK, Europe, and beyon d, pressing them to protect civilians, increase humanitarian aid, and help end the war. We've projected warnings onto Parliament, delivered Sudanese children's drawings to leaders, and kept pushing governments to act before more atrocities unfold.

The images in this email were taken by Giles Clarke, an independent photographer sponsored by Avaaz to document the war in Sudan . Captured in February 2026 at Sudan's biggest displacement camp in Tawila, North Darfur, they show the reality for thousands of families who fled the brutal siege and massacres in El Fasher -- arriving severely malnourished, often with nothing but the clothes on their backs. By funding photographers like this, we're helping to push Sudan into the global spotlight, so leaders finally take action.
