Dear John,

The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is the largest national wildlife refuge in
our country. It has been home to Indigenous communities for thousands of years,
and provides habitat for polar bears, grizzly bears, wolves, moose, caribou, and
eagles. But it’s about to be turned over to Oil and Gas developers -- unless we
stop it. Help stop the Arctic Refuge from becoming a fossil fuel wasteland -- rush a $10
donation to Friends of the Earth today.

It’s official: The Department of the Interior greenlighted drilling in the
Arctic Refuge last week. Its plan ignores science, endangers animals, and
tramples Indigenous rights. From top to bottom, this decision is dangerous,
destructive, and just plain wrong. And it’s the final step before drilling can
begin.

We can still stop this egregious attack on one of America’s most iconic wild
places and the people and wildlife who live there. But we need you to act now.

Stand up to the Department of the Interior’s attacks on our environment and
public lands. Donate $10 to Friends of the Earth.

[[link removed]]Oil and gas development could have devastating impact on the Porcupine caribou
herd, whose calving ground is inside the refuge. This would irreversibly
threaten the Indigenous Gwich’in people’s way of life, as they have relied on
the herd for millennia.

What’s more, the Arctic is warming at more than twice the rate of the rest of
the planet. And it’s already impacting people and wildlife -- photos of starving
polar bears tell you everything you need to know about what’s to come if we
don’t rein in Big Oil.

But the Department of the Interior is colluding with the fossil fuel industry to
turn America’s public lands into toxic sacrifice zones. We’ve learned one lesson
over and over again: The only thing strong enough to beat back these attacks is
people power.

Stand up for people, wildlife, and the climate: Help protect the Arctic Refuge
with a $10 donation to Friends of the Earth.

* We’re fighting this Arctic drilling plan every step of the way -- We’ve
pressured the Department of the Interior to abandon it, built support for
House Representative Jared Huffman’s bill to stop it, and demanded that oil
companies refuse to drill in this fragile ecosystem.
* We will oppose every single lease sale, one by one, as the Department of the
Interior starts auctioning off the land.
* We’re organizing opposition for nominations like extreme anti-conservation,
racist fanatic William Pendley from key positions in the Department of the
Interior. Members like you led the charge forcing the withdrawal of his nomination. But Pendley is still leading the Buerau of Land Managment in
an acting capacity, and we continue to build pressure to remove him outright.
* We’re pressuring banks and private investment firms to not invest in Arctic
drilling.
* Beyond the Arctic Refuge, we’re working to stop polluters from destroying the
whole region. This week, thanks to years of strategic campaigning by Friends
of the Earth, allies, and members like you, the Army Corps rejected the
Pebble Mine project in Bristol Bay, Alaska. The EPA could still approve the
project -- so we’re not giving up the fight yet.

Friends of the Earth is playing a critical role in the fight to protect the
Arctic Refuge -- a role that is powered by members like you. Together, we can stop this egregious attack on sacred lands, iconic species,
and our climate.

Preserve the Arctic Refuge and stand up for America’s public lands before it’s
too late. Power the movement with a donation today.
