Today is a historic day. 250 years ago, a small group of brave men pledged their ‘lives, fortunes, and sacred honor’ to the cause of making our great nation free.

John,

Today is a historic day. 250 years ago, a small group of brave men pledged their ‘lives, fortunes, and sacred honor’ to the cause of making our great nation free.

Because of their courage and sacrifice, you and I get to celebrate today. We get to enjoy freedoms and privileges that multitudes throughout history and around the world have only ever dreamed of.

This is a day to be thankful to God for His many blessings — life, family, freedom, peace, prosperity. I am beyond grateful to be an American and to live and raise our children in this beautiful country. Today is a day to recognize the enormous price paid to secure and protect these things we hold so dear.

And yet, as we celebrate and commemorate all of this, there is a shadow that lingers over our festivities. As friends and neighbors gather for cookouts, as the sound of children’s laughter fills the streets, and as the last fireworks light up the skies, a great injustice will be set to take place.

At midnight tonight, Planned Parenthood will regain federal funding.

In his famous, “I Have a Dream” speech, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke of our founding documents as “a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir,” one that “guaranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

He said that, because of the evils of slavery and segregation that had been inflicted upon African Americans up to that point in history, our nation had “defaulted on this promissory note” and had written a segment of its population “a bad check.”

Dr. King was right, and today, his statements ring even more true for another group of Americans: Our preborn brothers and sisters.

Every day, Planned Parenthood is responsible for the deaths of 1,190 innocent preborn babies. And now, because our leaders have failed to act, we will once again be forced to fund this wicked organization with our federal tax dollars.

But all hope is not lost. While the deadline has passed to keep the defunding of Planned Parenthood from expiring, Congress can still pass legislation to reinstate it.

Time is of the essence, John. Every day Congress fails to act means more money for Planned Parenthood. Prior to its defunding last year, the abortion giant was receiving nearly $2.3 million in taxpayer funding a day.

That’s why I’d like to ask you to do two important things right now.

First, go to DefundPP.com ([link removed] ) and send an email to your elected representatives urging them to reinstate the defunding of Planned Parenthood immediately — and be sure to share the link with as many people as possible once you’re finished.

Second, if you have not already taken the pledge to participate in our new Until It Ends campaign, please do so today at liveaction.org/untilitends ([link removed] ) .

Making our voices heard is critical to seeing pro-life victories, but without prayer, our efforts will have no lasting effect. Scripture tells us in Psalm 127 that “unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.”

Our Founding Fathers were men who understood the power of prayer and the need to rely upon God in order to accomplish anything of true significance. We must be the same.

When you sign up to take part in Until It Ends, you are joining hundreds of other pro-lifers who have dedicated themselves to fasting, prayer, and service through August 2.

By stepping out in faith together, we are declaring our belief that, with God’s help, we will see the day when abortion is finally abolished. Like Dr. King, “we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt.”

If we resolve to take a stand now, no matter the cost and no matter how long the fight may last, we will be honoring the legacy of those who came before us and will create a country where there truly is “liberty and justice for ALL.”

Thank you for your commitment to defending the most vulnerable.

For Life,

Lila Rose
