Today, we celebrate a monumental milestone: 250 years since our founders declared that everyone deserves life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

The 4th of July has always been about honoring our nation and history, along with the freedoms and responsibilities that come with being a part of one of the greatest democracies in the world.

Now, 250 years later, our most fundamental democratic values are under attack.

Donald Trump’s extremist Supreme Court’s recent decisions are a reminder of just how much is at stake - undermining voting rights and expanding executive power in ways that move us further from the checks and balances our founders intended.

I promise you this, John: I will keep fighting back against MAGA extremism and to protect our democracy for ALL Americans. Every step of the way. Because this country still belongs to its people.

As you gather with friends and family this weekend, remember that today isn’t just fireworks and parades - it’s about the revolutionary idea that the government should serve the people, not the powerful. And certainly not a king.

That fight didn’t end in 1776 - it’s still happening today.
