Friend,

On the 250th birthday of this country, it's worth asking what we actually owe the people who built it.

Not the founders. Not the politicians. The ones who bled for it.

Lincoln knew the answer. He felt the weight of every death. Every name. Every family left behind. He believed the men who served were owed everything – especially the truth about why they were asked to sacrifice.

Donald Trump called them suckers.

He called them losers. He stood in an American military cemetery and asked his staff what was in it for them. He couldn't grasp why anyone would die for something larger than themselves.

250 years of soldiers who gave everything for this country. 250 years of families who never got them back.

They deserved a Lincoln.

They still do.
