** COUNTY RELEASES FINAL 3 MISSING MIDDLE RESEARCH BULLETINS

** Arlington County has now released all five Missing Middle research bulletins.

These bulletins give an overview of the upcoming study and Arlington's current housing inventory, and review the way the history of land use and zoning policies have shaped Arlington. We encourage all Arlingtonians to review the bulletins in anticipation of the upcoming study, which will include community input. And, if you are interested in getting more engaged you can join the AHS Missing Middle Network ([link removed]) .

In this event participants will build on their understanding of Arlington’s history to consider how the county can end institutional racism in our housing sector. The group will explore such policies and tools as zoning reforms, criminal records and leases, source of income protections, and homeownership assistance.

** VA EVICTIONS SUSPENDED UNTIL SEPT. 7

** Virginia Supreme Court granted a temporary moratorium on evictions related to the failure to pay rent from August 10 through September 7, 2020.

The August 8 judicial emergency order was issued in response to Gov. Ralph Northam’s request to “allow his administration the time to both work with the General Assembly to develop and pass a legislative package that will provide additional relief to those facing eviction and to expand financial assistance for tenants through [its] rent relief program.”

** Arlington County is now accepting applications for the Fall 2020 Neighborhood College ([link removed]) . The free program is geared toward Arlingtonians who want to effect change by becoming more involved in neighborhood and Countywide issues. Participants will learn about many aspects of Arlington County government and practice core communication and influencing skills, key to civic engagement and leadership.

Class sessions will be held virtually on Thursdays from Oct. 1 – Nov. 19 from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. The sessions will feature conversations with County Board members, County staff, local non-profit leaders and more. Class size is limited to 25.
