Hello!
This is a quick note to let you know how much I appreciate you. 2020 has been a tough year, for so many reasons, but your support has been a bright spot for me.
Everyone at The Humane League has been working hard to adapt to the changes brought on by COVID-19, and even though our campaigns may have looked a bit different this year, exciting changes continue to happen for animals. As a supporter of The Humane League, you were key to making this possible, and I want you to know how much that means to me.
In June, Tyson Foods announced plans to stop using the brutal live-shackle slaughter method at four more of its facilities, bringing the total to six. This will spare over 300 million chickens every year from having their throat slit or being dropped into a scalding tank while still fully conscious.
In July, we joined over 120 other animal welfare, food justice, labor, environmental, and farming organizations to apply intense, focused pressure on Tyson to make even bigger changes that will benefit both workers and animals. The social media campaign made over 58 million impressions.
And just this month, the 150th European Chicken Commitment (ECC) was achieved, meaning that approximately 10% of chickens raised for meat in Europe are now covered by these higher welfare standards.
None of this important work would have been possible without your partnership. Your dedication to animals, to being the change this world so desperately needs right now, is inspiring.
I know I speak for the whole team at THL when I say: THANK YOU!
