The ATF's ship-to-home gun rule finally hit the national news this
week, and Reuters and Fox are getting some big things wrong. I broke
down what the rule actually does versus what the coverage claims [5]
— the short version is Congress authorized this in 1968 and the
ATF's own regulation is what kept it dormant. The comment period
closes August 6, and the article has the link to weigh in. Speaking of
firsts, South Dakota's suppressor deregulation law is now in effect
[6] — nothing like it anywhere else in the country.
 
On the legal side, a Marine veteran couple and GOA are suing Illinois
over its ban on nonresident concealed carry permits [7].
 
Three DGU stories, and one of them is a warning. In Fort Worth, a
neighbor shot and killed a machete-armed man who was dragging a
screaming woman down the street [8]. In Alaska, a homeowner returned
fire after copper thieves shot at him on his own property [9]. And in
Missouri, a man is facing murder charges after a road rage shooting
