Governor DeWine, Lt. Governor Jim Tressel, and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik announced [ [link removed] ] the approval of seven projects that will create 1,221 new jobs and retain 1,089 jobs statewide. 

During its monthly meeting, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) reviewed economic development proposals brought to the board by JobsOhio and its regional partners. The projects are expected to result in more than $84.7 million in new payroll and generate more than $1.1 billion in investments across Ohio.

Governor DeWine, Ohio EMA Issue Urgent Safety Alert as High Temperatures Impact Ohio [ [link removed] ]

Governor DeWine and the Ohio Emergency Management Agency (EMA) issued [ [link removed] ] an urgent safety alert regarding the dangerously hot weather conditions impacting the state during the week of June 29, 2026. 

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will reach the mid-90s Monday, June 29, 2026, but humidity will cause the temperature to feel like it is well above 100 degrees. In addition to hot and humid daytime conditions, overnight lows are expected to be in the 70s, providing little relief to the high temperatures. The heatwave is anticipated to last through Thursday, July 2, 2026. 

"No matter where you live in Ohio, you'll be impacted by this week's dangerously high temperatures," said Governor DeWine. "I encourage everyone to be mindful of how dangerous prolonged periods of intense heat can be and take steps to protect themselves."

Governor DeWine, in collaboration with the Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE), announced [ [link removed] ] that the University of Akron, Bowling Green State University, and Miami University will receive a combined total of $2.5 million to support the development and expansion of Structured Literacy Centers across the state.

Structured Literacy Centers provide teachers specialized training on the Science of Reading. These awards build on Governor DeWine’s longstanding efforts to bring the Science of Reading into every classroom in Ohio.

“We know that the Science of Reading is the best method for teaching students how to read,” said Governor DeWine. “By supporting Structured Literacy Centers at universities across the state, we will help our future and current teachers master the Science of Reading so they can help every Ohio child become a confident reader and reach their full potential.”

Governor DeWine, Lt. Governor Tressel, and Ohio Department of Development Director Mihalik announced [ [link removed] ] $15.5 million in grants to help communities in 35 counties clean up contaminated properties and prepare them for redevelopment. 

The Department of Development is awarding this funding as part of the Ohio Brownfield Remediation Program [ [link removed] ]. Tuesday's announcement includes nearly $8.4 million for 22 cleanup and remediation projects and $7.1 million for 41 assessment projects. 

“The Brownfield Remediation Program has been transformative in Ohio, and it has been incredible to see the difference it has made all over the state,” said Governor DeWine. “Every dilapidated storefront or longtime neighborhood eyesore we help clean up is a new opportunity for our local partners to breathe new life into their communities.” 

Since its launch in 2021, the Brownfield Remediation Program has provided nearly $800 million to support 904 projects in 87 counties. 

“A vacant old warehouse or run-down gas station does more than just impact a neighborhood’s appearance — they weigh down the potential of the people who live and work nearby,” said Lt. Governor Tressel. “By investing in a future for these sites, we’re investing in a future where any community can become Ohio’s next great success story.”

Governor DeWine at the Ohio: Wild at Heart Screening in Cleveland. [ [link removed] ]

Governor DeWine joined Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Director Mary Mertz for a screening of "_Ohio: Wild at Heart [ [link removed] ]_".

"Ohio: Wild at Heart" tells stories of conservation and explores Ohio’s natural playground, with the underlying message “when we take care of nature, nature takes care of us.” 

The movie showcases Ohio’s natural wonders with spectacular aerial cinematography of places like the Ohio River and the cliffs and waterfalls of Hocking Hills. The film also takes viewers on a journey through Ohio’s great outdoors including an adventure across Lake Erie featuring the eagles that nest throughout the region.

Governor DeWine issued [ [link removed] ] the following statement regarding the Child Abuse Case in Vinton County

"Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson has kept me informed about the tragic situation in Vinton County.  I have talked to Vinton County Sheriff Ryan Cain to offer any help that we might be able to provide.  The Director of the Ohio Department of Children and Youth, Kara Wente, has been working to assist Vinton County Children’s Services, and will continue to help in the days ahead.

"It is heartbreaking to learn the conditions that these children were living in, and to learn of their medical conditions. Attorney General Wilson is an experienced prosecutor and he has told me he has never seen anything like what he saw today. Fran and I pray for these children, and thank the children's services workers, law enforcement officers, and medical personnel who are helping them."

Governor DeWine announced [ [link removed] ] the first Rural Health Transformation Program award to Ohio University to strengthen the rural healthcare workforce. This is the first of many initiatives that will be funded through the $202 million awarded to Ohio from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), which Governor DeWine announced [ [link removed] ] in December 2025.

"We are excited to see the first of the funds going out to begin the important work of improving the health and well-being of Ohioans in our rural communities,” said Governor DeWine. "We remain grateful to Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz for their support of Ohio's proposal.”
