Hey John!
Thanks for being a part of our ever-growing, powerful Jail Support team! Since June 2, we have been out in front of Denver City Jail offering food, water, cigarettes, a phone charger, rides, a listening ear, and more to folks recently released from the Denver cage and anyone passing by.
We could not do it without your support or without the amazing 120+ volunteers who take shifts, pick-up supplies, help with administrative and scheduling tasks, and do everything in between. This work we are doing together is magical and community-sustaining!
In the past 6 months alone, we've seen our government and the state abandon us and our communities. We've seen brazen cruelty and brutality from our elected leaders, with little to not actual support or change. But, in the face of all that, jail support remains a really sacred act of mutual aid, one where we get to give care and support without means testing and without waiting for legislation. Jail support shows above all that we take care of each other. Thank you proving that day after day - rain or shine.
There's still so many ways to get involved, and we need your help! This newsletter is a new way of keeping in touch with all our amazing volunteers and keeping the chapter up to date about our work. We plan on sending it out every two weeks!

Donate
We are able to provide all of our supplies to folks in need because of generous donations from DSA members and jail support supporters!
Right now our funds are low, and we need your donations to be able to keep buying food, water, clean shirts, clean socks, bus passes, Lyft rides, and more for our neighbors. You can donate via CashApp, then fill out our handy donation form. Make sure to put Jail Support in the subject line!
CashApp: $DSADenver
$10 buys a bus pass for someone so that they can go where they need when they want, and not find themselves stuck at the wrong place at the wrong time.
$15 buys 6 clean, new shirts so folks can have a nice, clean piece of clothing that is all theirs own after having shared an unclean living quarters with others.
$30 buys two Lyft rides for folks who need help getting home after they've been freed.
$50 buys ten hygiene packs (which include a toothbrush, toothpaste, tissues, a bar of soap, and mouthwash) for people who might not even have a toothbrush.
$100 buys snacks and water for our base camp including chips, cookies, and fresh fruit, and soft sandwiches and pudding for people who might not be able to comfortably chew.
Join our bad-ass Admin Team
This is the group of folks who make everything happen behind the scenes! We fill the schedule, put volunteers in contact with each other, coordinate supply hand-offs, onboard new members, and more! This is a great opportunity for people who may be unable to work a shift in front of the jail for health reasons or otherwise.
All of the admin team work is done remotely and we meet every two weeks via Zoom to assess, improve, and communicate about how to make jail support the best experience for everyone. If you're interested in joining our admin team work, fill out this
form and specify that you're interested in helping with admin work!

We're having our next all-volunteer meeting on September 24 @ 6:30 PM which you can register for here! Can't wait to see you there.
Thanks for building this big beautiful thing with us.
In solidarity 🌹
