Monthly update from The Nellie Mae Education Foundation Of Note A Monthly Update from The Nellie Mae Education Foundation Reopening New England Schools As New England communities grapple with what learning will look like in the fall, we've sponsored a series of conversations across the region that have invited families, educators, young people, health professionals and others to discuss what equitable reopening will look like. We invite you to listen to recordings of each of the conversations. Listen Here Updates And Ideas Tune in this Friday for the Black National Convention, hosted by the Movement for Black Lives, a multi-hour broadcast filled with love, joy, and a vision for Black lives ahead of November's election. Join The Abolitionist Teaching Network today for the virtual event, "Raising Coconspirators: Talking About Racism With White Kids." "Black Minds Matter" - a feature in Teaching Tolerance's online magazine, discusses how educators can interrupt school practices that disregard the mental health of Black youth. Our partners in Rhode Island put together a community statement on equitably opening the state's schools - calling for health and safety measures, equity measures for distance learning, and anti-racism measures for all learning conditions. The Nellie Mae Education Foundation is supporting educators who have been at the forefront of facilitating necessary and courageous conversations and practices centered on eradicating anti-Blackness in their virtual classrooms, schools and communities across New England. The Foundation is deeply interested in projects that are rooted in challenging anti-Blackness and centering the voices, perspectives and experiences of Black people.
