RE: THE SUPREME COURT UPHOLDS BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP
Excellent article on the Supreme Court's dangerously narrow decision
to uphold birthright citizenship. Clearly, this is an issue
demanding widespread lobbying and support.

RE: ANOTHER BLOW TO DEMOCRATIC ESTABLISHMENT AS MELAT KIROS UNSEATS
30-YEAR INCUMBENT IN COLORADO
Mamdani has unleashed a movement that seems unstoppable with every win
that he achieves in NYC.
Robert PolitzerPosted on xxxxxx's Facebook page

=====
ROBERT POLITZER: As with Mamdani's win this is a big blue city win.
This Denver cemnered district was already the bluest, most progressive
in the state, hadn't elected a GOP rep since 1970. Let's remember it's
not one size fits all. And a large part of the enthusiasm for 29 year
old Kiros was frustration with the establishment as embodied by the
incumbent DeGette, holding office for going on 30 years now and
perceived as a DC figure, phoning it in for her constituents back
home. Good shake up but not indicative of a far-left Colorado wave.
It's an anti-establishment, anti-aging complacent pol wave.

FELICE SAGE: There are other Mamdani inspired candidates such as
Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan. But I agree that we don't know yet how
independents will respond to the "Democratic Socialism" messaging. I
am in favor of 95% of the DSA Agenda but I am concerned that using
"Socialism" for their branding could end up backfiring. It certainly
gives the right wing fuel for their propaganda.
Robert PolitzerPosted on xxxxxx's Facebook page

=====
ROBERT POLITZER: I'm just saying we need to remember that different
districts and states require different types of candidates. Back when
Colorado was just beginning to turn blue we had to run candidates more
moderate/centrist than the base would have preferred in order to win.
Over time we were able to win in more places with the center left
candidates that are the most common winners in the state now. Having a
Social Democrat represent Denver fits Denver and I don't believe will
harm us in the general either in Denver or elsewhere in the state or
in statewide elections. All of our primary winners for statewide
office are broadly in the center left comfort zone for the Colorado
majorities that have been electing them for many years now.

RE: THE SOCIALIST FUTURE IS BEING WRITTEN IN NEW YORK
It's not socialism; it's reform politics; free bus fare is not
socialism, or rent-control. For the record, socialism is one thing and
one thing only: the workers in any enterprise own and have control
over their place of work, and no one else. They are not being used by
others for their (the "bosses", i.e.) profit. WHen the bus drivers own
the buses and make the rules and share the profit, that's the
beginning of socialism. It's just democracy at work, nothing more and
nothing less. Like the Cheese Board for local Berkeleians; that's a
co-op, or "workers' paradise!" Mamdani never mentioned anything like
that far as I know. Just democracy, that's all.

RE: CORPORATE DEMOCRATS MOBILIZE
The pushback by corporate Democrats against the victorious
progressive Democrats will only serve to showcase their
class-collaborationist tendencies. People are sick and tired of having
a choice of Tweedledee or Tweedledum.
When progressives show they can win general elections consistently
because voters want an end to war and oligarchy, the Democratic Party
will have to decide if it wants to keep winning with Democratic
Socialists and the like or concede the country to MAGA.

RE: ALAN GREENSPAN: HOMEWRECKER
So true. How do certain wonks gain such power and credibility? I read
a book about Robert Moses (the NYC highway planning, neighborhood
busting one, not Robert P. Moses, the civil rights leader and
educator). "The Power Broker" describes the rise to power by an
egomaniac who destroyed communities. His rise to power depended a lot
on behind the scenes collaboration with moneyed interests and assumed
that the public was unaware of the underlying issues, which is often
the case. For this and so many other issues, the antidote is an
informed, engaged and organized public. Economics is portrayed as
rocket science, that regular people cannot possibly understand. How
convenient for those who benefit big time!

I've actually been compiling a villains list in my head.
Bill Clinton, Milton Friedman.... The list goes on.
Carter would be on it. A courtly Southern gentleman, a conservative,
and a neoliberal who involved us in Afghanistan and in a brutal
repression in Central America.
It's a long list.

MAIL FRAUD -- CARTOON AND COMMENTARY BY CLAY JONES
Isn't it a crime to tamper with the mail?
Now Donald Trump is f**king with the mail.
Now Donald Trump is fucking with the mail.
Neither Donald Trump nor the US Post Office has the authority to
refuse to deliver mail and ballots, yet that is what Donald Trump
ordered the postal service to do, and the goon installed as Postmaster
General agreed.
Trump demanded that every state send him a list of all its eligible
voters. States that are not led by goosestepping sycophants refused.
Then Trump ordered the Postal Service not to deliver ballots from
those states.
Elections are administered and controlled by the states, not the
federal government. Donald Trump has zero authority to demand voter
rolls. Trump doesn't have a good reason to possess the names and
addresses of every voter in the country. His motives are clearly
sinister.
Trump and Republicans have been pushing a big lie for several years
that there's massive voter fraud in this country, but the only voting
fraud that's been ongoing in the United States has been committed by
Donald Trump and Republicans.
Thankfully, a federal judge blocked this move by the Trump regime. U.
District Judge Indira Talwani, an Obama appointee, stated in her
decision that the Postal Service neither possesses the constitutional
authority to administer elections (a responsibility delegated to the
states) nor has it been granted power by Congress to create binding
regulations on voting by mail.
Postmaster General David Steiner dismissed Senate Democrats’
concerns that the regulations are an attempt to seize control of
elections, instead characterizing the plan as a means to ensure that
the right ballots are being sent to the right people during a
Wednesday committee hearing.
Asked whether the Postal Service has the authority to implement those
rules, Steiner said he’d “have to defer back to the courts.”
It's time to defer, motherfucker.
This is a victory for the 23 states and Washington, DC, which sued the
Trump regime over Trump’s executive order that demanded the Post
Office restrict ballots from being delivered. This would be like every
voter in America giving their ballots to Cliff Clavin to be delivered.
They would all be lost in a Boston bar or chewed up on Rottweiler
Hill. We could give them to Newman, but they would probably be stored
in Jerry's forgotten storage closet.
The judge also ruled that the executive order’s timing made it
impossible for the Postal Service to propose the rule through the
proper bureaucratic channels, providing “no allowance for
Congress’ mandated procedure regarding USPS rulemaking.”
The decision also blocks another part of the executive order directing
the federal government to compile a list of American citizens residing
in states. I thought Republicans were supposed to be against this big
government shit? I thought Republicans wanted states to control most
things? Donald Trump is trying to implement fascism.
This is another case that should be rejected by the Supreme Court when
the appeal lands on its desk, but if history is any indication, the
corrupt majority on the nation's highest court will hear this case and
rule in favor of Trump, and allow him to steal ballots and block them
from being counted.
Donald Trump has tried to steal elections, and now he is trying to
steal the mail. Donald Trump deserves to go to prison.
CREATIVE NOTE: the Post Office does not have an official motto, and if
it did, it wouldn't be this. It would probably be the creed that it
has been associated with for decades, which is, “Neither snow nor
rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift
completion of their appointed rounds.” The reason I did not use it
for this cartoon is that it doesn't rhyme, and it's just way too dry.
So I used a little artistic license.
