WATCH the Rt Hon Winston Peters discuss the latest COVID-19 alert level extension <[link removed]>

The Government announced that Auckland's Alert Level 3 will be extended until midnight Sunday, the 30th of August.

This decision is about putting our country's health first, because until we secure that we cannot rebuild New Zealand's future economic health.

Priority has also been given to the use of face masks, something New Zealand First have called for for based on its success in the Taiwan example.

We also welcome the greater use of the NZ Defence Force to secure our borders and manage our quarantine facilities.

As for our campaign, it will be a few more days until we know how it will unfold.

For now, patience is a necessary virtue.

We welcome practical amendments made to the winter grazing rules.

Our Agriculture Spokesperson and South Otago Sheep and Beef Farmer Mark Patterson says “that while we acknowledge the necessity of farmers adopting best practice around winter grazing, the rules as previously announced were unpractical and unworkable”.

We welcome the commitment of the Agricultural Minister to continue to work with farmers and regional councils to achieve sensible and achievable solutions.
