I. Volunteer to help Allen Smith at the polls next week and Election Day <[link removed]>!
Allen Smith is a terrific Green running a wonderful campaign in the NC US Congressional District 9 Special Election Race.
We need the support of Greens from all over the state to make Allen’s campaign a resounding success! No matter where you are in the state, if you can make it down to district 9, please sign up to volunteer on Election Day or any day tomorrow or Tues-Fri next week at a District 9 polling location and we will arrange to get you materials!
Here is the link to the Volunteer Form:[link removed]
If you can volunteer for a full day and gas costs are an issue on the form please let us know on the form.
If you cannot make it to the polls on any of these days, please consider donating to either our 2019 Candidate Drive at [link removed] or to Allen Smith’s campaign donation page: [link removed]
Allen Smith is the only District 9 candidate running on these issues:
- A truly system-changing Green New Deal
- Dismantling Duke Energy
- Full Legalization of Marijuana & Ending the War on Drugs
- Free Public Education through Graduate School
- Canceling Student Debt
- Unionizing the South and Worker Organization
- A Living Wage of (at least $15 an hour and more in high cost areas)
- Affordable housing for All
- Redirecting our economy from a War Profiteer Economy to a People & Planet Economy, ending the war, shutting down the military bases and bringing troops home
Both Dan McCready and Dan Bishop support increasing militarism at home and abroad, anti-worker legislation and deregulation, Wall Street and the military industrial complex, the racist war on drugs and woefully inadequate environmental legislation, while the polar regions melt and the largest forests in the world burn. There is no “lesser evil” solution to the catastrophic environmental threats and global conflicts the business-as-usual policies of either the Democrat or Republican candidates in the District 9 race have to offer.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS - 2019 PARADE - SEPT. 2 11AM kickoff
Please remember that city ordinances prohibit the throwing of anything to the line-side spectators, but it is permissible to handout articles to the spectators. All groups, political candidates, businesses, and individuals must be preregistered, even if they are participating with your group. Proper decorum will be observed in the staging area and on the parade route since this is a family parade. You may not have music with offensive or profane lyrics. If you have animals in the parade, I need to know about them. Dogs, horses, and donkeys have to be cleaned up after immediately. Firearms are, not allowed. Everyone must enter the staging area via North College Street. I or one of my marshals will check you in at 621 North College Street <[link removed]>, which is the intersection of North College and Phifer Streets. Please be careful in your driving. North College will not be blocked off, it is a one way street northward, and some of the county offices will be open. Vehicles in the parade will be placed either on Phifer Street or in the left side parking lot under the direction of me or my marshals in their numbered spaces. The numbered spaces correspond to your lineup number. Look for the hand chalked numbers in lot parking spaces. All other vehicles must be parked in the right side parking lot, parking as far away from the Medic building as you can. Please try to carpool or use the light rail as much as possible. There are some other parking lots in the area, but they are not free. You can ride the light rail to 9th Street and walk up too. Porta-Jons will be provided. The lot marshal will have some bottled water. The coffee shop at Phifer and Tryon Streets will be open. Come a little early and meet others in the parade. At 11 am the parade will begin down Tryon Street in numerical order at the direction of myself or my marshals.
For safety and orderliness, the parade participants must start only when directed to by me or my marshals. " (Message from Charlotte Labor Day Parade Organizers)
Kind Regards and Solidarity!
