Friend,
Southern Brooklyn has long been starved for reliable and accessible public transit. As my office's transit report [[link removed]] documents, the transit woes of southern Brooklyn tangibly affect our economy, our wellbeing, and our quality of life.

Now, with the current economic crisis, questions of the MTA's solvency are at the forefront of every New Yorker’s mind. Yes, we urgently need relief from Washington, but with the right leadership in Albany, we CAN and WILL build a public transit system that works for all of us.
My plan for the MTA is simple: we need accountability, reliability, and accessibility.
--- Make the MTA accountable to riders, by giving riders in every borough a direct vote on the MTA Board so that the hundreds of millions of dollars spent on mass transit will go to service improvements and not wasteful spending.
--- Make the MTA reliable by focusing improvements on signals, rails, busways, and newer trains -- not cosmetic improvements and fancy subway tile redesigns.
--- Make the MTA accessible for all, including the thousands who use wheelchairs or have other mobility impairments, so they can ride the subways without unnecessary obstacles.
We've started to make progress on these points over the last two years, including passing my bill to give riders a vote on the MTA board, funding the most ambitious capital plan in the MTA's history, and building three new elevators at stations in our district. We can’t stop now. Join me in fighting for better public transit for all to continue the progress we have made!
Can you sign up for one phone shift this week to elect a pro-public transit State Senator?
