As we move into the heart of summer, we're taking a short break from our monthly chapter meeting in July. Organizing is a marathon, not a sprint, and we hope you'll take this opportunity to rest, recharge, and enjoy some summer sunshine with friends and loved ones.
While our full chapter won't be meeting, the work doesn't stop. Several of our working groups will continue to meet throughout the month, and we'd love to see you there.
Call to Action:
The public comment period for the City of Santa Barbara's proposed rent-stabilization ordinance (RSO) is open until July 10. We need as many members as possible to send in a comment demanding the strongest possible RSO to stop struggling tenants from being priced out of the city. Click here for information on the ordinance, talking points, and the city email address to send them to.
Upcoming Meetings:
- Executive Committee: Tuesday, July 7, at 6:30 PM on Zoom. Members in good standing are welcome to observe. Please email [email protected] for the meeting link.
- Electoral Working Group: Wednesday, July 8, at 5:30 PM at Elsie's Tavern, 117 W. De La Guerra St. The Electoral Working Group meeting will include some exciting and important updates about new opportunities to get involved in organizing at the city and county level. If you've been looking for more ways to engage in local campaigns and community organizing, this is a great meeting to attend.
- Workplace Organizing Committee: Thursday, July 9 at 6:30 PM, 1209 1/2 De La Vina St.
- Coffee With Comrades: Thursday, July 23, 11 AM - 1 PM at Java Station, 4447 Hollister Ave. Join us to talk about organizing and politics over coffee - or just hang out and chat!
