Today, after the Governor’s veto was overridden during the session, the SAVE Kansas Act goes into effect.

This is the Republican-backed law that expands voter-roll purges, increases data-sharing with the Secretary of State’s office and Federal departments, and puts new restrictions on voter registration efforts.

Pat Proctor is running for Secretary of State, and he has made clear he supports a much more extreme approach to election policy. If someone like him controls this office, the SAVE Kansas Act will not be treated as a narrow administrative tool, it will be used to its full effect to chill civic engagement in the electoral process.

John, Kansas voters deserve an elections office focused on helping eligible voters participate, not one looking for new ways to make voting harder.

The SAVE Kansas Act is now in effect.
