John —

Today is quite possibly the best day of the year for man’s best friend — it’s National Dog Day!

To celebrate, we’re highlighting exonerees’ relationships with their canine companions and how they’ve helped them navigate a new world and rebuild their lives as free people.

We’re talking about folks like Malcolm Alexander, who was serving a life sentence in Louisiana State Penitentiary for a crime he didn’t commit, when he met his dog, Inn (short for Innocence).

So if you have a moment, read some heartwarming stories and take a look at some adorable photos. Here’s a sneak peek of the cuteness you’re in for:

We hope this brings a smile to your face!
