Parents should be able to return to work and trust that their children are learning in a healthy environment. That’s why today, Justin Trudeau announced our Liberal government's new Safe Return to Class Fund.
Investing in a safe return to class for our children is a crucial step for their future, friend.
As our economy gradually restarts and communities across the country get back on their feet, a new school year is about to begin for many families.
Parents should be able to return to work and trust that their children are learning in a healthy environment. That’s why today, Justin Trudeau announced our Liberal government's new Safe Return to Class Fund.
This crucial investment of up to $2 billion will help support provinces and territories in their efforts to protect the health of students and staff by supporting adapted learning spaces, purchases of personal protective equipment, and other important safety measures. An additional $112 million in funding will also support First Nations community measures to ensure a safe return to school on reserves.
School safety is top of mind for us all right now, and no matter where they live, students must be safe in their classrooms. Teachers and staff must be safe on the job, and parents must be confident that they can get back to work.
This new support builds on our Liberal government’s $19 billion Safe Restart Agreement, which is providing funding for improved access to safe and quality child care, increased testing and contact tracing, improved public health capacity, and much more.
This is a school year like no other, and the new Safe Return to Class Fund will give our communities flexible funding for what they need most – because ensuring that all Canadians are safe, healthy, and supported will always be our top priority.
