Team,

100 years ago today, the 19th Amendment -- granting women the right to vote -- was certified in our nation’s constitution, opening the doors of democracy for many women who were left out from having a seat at the table.

On this Women’s Equality Day, I’m thinking and reflecting on the journey for women’s rights and suffrage, and the path still ahead of us toward reaching gender equity.

I also think about my mother, who even during the toughest months of her battle against cancer, led my sisters and our entire family with strength and hope.

It's in her memory and the hard work of women before and after us that I'm asking you to take action today.

We still must fight for unmitigated access to the ballot box, especially for communities of color and Black women who have continuously led the fight for equality. We still must fight to ensure that women, regardless of race, receive equal pay for equal work, so that women across America are given the same opportunities to succeed and achieve the American Dream.

So on this Women’s Equality Day, I’m asking you to join me in our fight to ensure that all women -- regardless of their race or socioeconomic status -- can lead a life of opportunity, justice, and dignity without barriers to their basic American rights.

Stand with Women »

And from the lessons of my mother, I urge each of you to keep fighting, no matter what, even when the cards are stacked against you.

Happy Women’s Equality Day,

Anthony
