Friend, the NRCC -- the campaign arm of the House Republicans -- was caught yesterday engaging in utterly despicable politics: they were encouraging outside groups to attack the sexual orientation of Gina Ortiz Jones, the Democratic nominee in the swing district of TX-23.

Gina Ortiz Jones is a veteran with an incredible record of service to her country. She ran a strong race for this district in 2018, coming up less than 1,000 votes short against a GOP incumbent.

Now, TX-23 is an open seat -- and one of the best opportunities for Democrats this year to flip a district from red to blue.

Republicans are desperate. They don't want to engage on the issues, so they're attacking a candidate because of who she loves. This blatant homophobia has no place in 2020, and we must all step up to show that spreading hate is not a winning political strategy.
