Content warning: This email discusses racially motivated police violence.
The cycle of police violence in this country must be
broken, John.
Jacob Blake was shot in the back 7 times by police officers in Kenosha,
Wisconsin. He was walking to his car to join his three sons and his
fiancé. He is currently paralyzed from the waist down. He survived, but
that was by accident. He was clearly shot with intent to kill.
There is no justice or path to ending systemic racial oppression against
Black people if police who commit these murders are allowed to not only
walk free, but keep their jobs and continue to wreak havoc on communities.
[ [link removed] ]Will you make an urgent call to local officials in Kenosha today to
demand that the cop who shot Jacob Blake be fired and held accountable
immediately?
→ Call local officials to demand justice for Jacob Blake: ←
Kenosha City Attorney: 262-653-4170

“Hi my name is John. I'm demanding that you immediately fire
the officer who shot Jacob Blake in the back seven times. This officer
attempted to murder a father in front of his children, and is clearly
unfit to hold his position as a police officer. We need to immediately
defund the police and redirect funds into emergency response programs that
don’t kill Black people.”

We will not rest until the police are held accountable. It’s been 161 days
since Breonna Taylor was brutally shot eight times and killed in her sleep
by police. Two of the officers responsible are still employed by their
police department.
We will not stop fighting for justice for Breonna and we will fight just
as hard for justice for Jake – and every other brother, sister, and family
members lost at the hands of police violence. Together we must demand
immediate accountability, and invest in programs that actually keep us
safe.
As Jake’s sister, Letetra Widman, said so powerfully: “I have been
watching police murder people who look like me for years. I don't want
your pity, I want change."
We must rise up for change.
