Surprise, surprise. The Supreme Coup of the United States — sorry, I mean the Supreme Court — just struck down the cap on coordinated spending between political parties and candidates. 6-3. Another day, another ruling that hands more power to whoever already has the most of it.
I'm not going to pretend I'm surprised. This Court has been telegraphing its hostility to democratic representation for years. It's the same Court that gutted Chevron, struck Roe, and handed Trump near-total immunity. And now, they’ve opened the floodgates for unlimited party cash with a straight face about "free speech."
But we don't have to sit here and take it. If your house is on fire, you don't sit around debating fire prevention policy for the next decade. You use the sprinkler system you already have. Congress has one.
That's exactly why I introduced my Restoring Judicial Separation of Powers Act . I propose we:
* Replace judge-shopped outcomes with randomly selected, rotating panels of senior circuit judges.
* Take away the Court's power to hand-pick which cases it hears.
* Require written, signed explanations for every ruling. No more shadow docket.
* Set a 70% supermajority threshold before the Court can strike down an act of Congress.
Congress has every tool it needs to do this right now. What's missing is the political will, and that comes from people like you.
Tonight at midnight is my FEC End-of-Quarter fundraising deadline, so I need to know you have my back. Will you chip in before midnight to help rebuild a Court that answers to the law instead of the highest bidder? [[link removed]]
