Dear John,
As we eagerly anticipate tomorrow’s episode of First Liberty Live! with Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and “Comeback Coach” Joe Kennedy, I want to briefly share an important new case update involving AG Paxton and school freedom.
I trust that you firmly believe, as I do, that schools should remain free to make their own decisions on when to open their doors this fall without the restrictive intervention of government officials.
Right now in one Texas county, that freedom is under attack.
First Liberty is representing two private Christian schools in Texas who have had their reopening plans blocked by the unlawful order of a county judge—even though the schools were careful to put extensive health and safety measures in place.
Attorney General Paxton recently joined First Liberty in taking a stand for the rights of both public and private schools, stating:
“There is no current order prohibiting any school from opening in the Fall semester. The decision to open or close schools rightfully remains in the hands of school system leaders, not county judges. The judge’s order is unlawful, and constitutes an attack on our religious freedom.”
We applaud AG Paxton for boldly supporting religious freedom in our schools. And since he will be joined on First Liberty Live! tomorrow by Coach Kennedy—a former school employee who was fired for exercising that very same right to religious freedom—we expect AG Paxton to have some key insights on why Coach Kennedy’s case is a crucial tipping point for religious liberty not only in our schools, but in every corner of society.
Join us for expert analysis from the leading figures at the epicenter of this fight tomorrow, August 27th on First Liberty Live!
Gratefully,
Kelly
