Friend—
Before I share anything else, I wanted to remind you that every gift to Immigration Equality is still being matched dollar-for-dollar up to $20,000 thanks to a generous supporter.
That means every donation made today will go twice as far in helping LGBTQ and HIV-positive immigrants find safety.
I know the difference that can make because I still remember what it felt like to be the person on the other side of that help.

Today, I spend much of my time helping asylum seekers in New Jersey, including LGBTQ immigrants being held in detention.
When I meet someone who is scared, isolated, and unsure what will happen next, I see my younger self.
I remember what it felt like to wonder if anyone would believe my story.
I remember what it felt like to carry uncertainty every day.
I remember what it felt like to not know whether I would ever truly be safe.
Many of the LGBTQ immigrants I meet today are carrying those same fears.
Some are separated from their loved ones. Some are navigating detention. Some are facing the possibility of being returned to countries where they cannot safely live openly as themselves.
No one should have to face that alone.
Years ago, Immigration Equality stood beside me during one of the hardest moments of my life.
Today, they continue showing up for LGBTQ and HIV-positive immigrants who need someone to believe them, advocate for them, and fight for their future.
Will you help make that possible for someone else?
Thank you for standing with LGBTQ immigrants this Pride Month.
With gratitude,
Damaris, Former Client
