John,

Coastal Virginians know firsthand how crucial it is for our government to take action to protect our environment and ensure everyone can access and enjoy our national public lands.

That's why I was proud to co-sponsor the bipartisan Great American Outdoors Act, which will permanently fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund and create a National Parks and Public Land Legacy Restoration Fund -- and I'm even prouder now that this historic bill has been signed into law.

Our state has received nearly $360.8 million from the LWCF to support projects in the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, the Eastern Shore National Wildlife Refuge, and Virginia battlefields like Yorktown. And in addition to supporting recreational opportunities, endangered species conservation, and land conservation, this legislation will create an estimated 10,000 jobs for Virginians.

This is a huge win for Coastal Virginia, but our work to preserve our environment for future generations isn't over. I introduced the bipartisan Defend Our Coast Act to prohibit offshore drilling on the mid-Atlantic Coastline -- will you sign on to be a citizen co-sponsor of this critical legislation to protect our shorelines?

Offshore drilling threatens our environment, our military, and our economy. For my children and yours, we must do everything in our power to ensure we protect our coast for generations to come.

Thank you for using your voice for this very important issue,

Elaine Luria
