Wisconsin’s Muslim community is showing up to support the Blake family. Earlier this week, we joined with six different mosques and Muslim organizations in Wisconsin to demand accountability for the police violence against Jacob Blake. Our joint statement is below.

Muslim Advocates and Wisconsin Muslim Groups Condemn Police Shooting of Jacob Blake
Washington, DC — On Sunday evening, Jacob Blake, a Black man, was shot in the back seven times by Kenosha police officers as he was trying to enter a car that contained his three young children. The following is a joint statement from Muslim Advocates in Washington, DC; the Wisconsin Muslim Civic Alliance; the American Albanian Islamic Center of Wisconsin in Kenosha, WI; Masjid Al-Huda and the Milwaukee Muslim Women's Coalition in Greenfield, WI; and the Islamic Society of Milwaukee and the Milwaukee Islamic Dawah Center in Milwaukee, WI:
“Yet again, police officers committed horrifying, infuriating violence against a Black person. Our hearts go out to Jacob Blake, who we hope survives this shooting, and his family, which includes three young children who will have to live with witnessing this trauma for the rest of their lives. We condemn this police shooting and demand a thorough investigation in order to bring justice to Blake and his family. We also demand that the state of Wisconsin, the city of Kenosha and the Kenosha Police Department ensure that the officers who shot Blake are held accountable and that they take immediate steps to address how something so horrifying could and continues to happen.”
