I have an important message for Women's Equality Day to share below, but first things first: My team has a goal of raising $25,000 by the end of August to contact new Democratic voters in CA-25. Can you support our New Voter Contact Fund with a contribution of $5 or more today?

Hi John,

I tell my daughters that they can be and do anything they want. I'm sure you tell the girls in your life the same thing.

And it's true, my two girls have so many opportunities now that the women who came before them did not. They have never known a world where American women were not allowed to vote. They live in a country where Roe v. Wade is the law of the land. They'll never be denied a credit card just for being women or charged more for health insurance because being female is considered a "pre-existing condition."

But there is more work to do.

Today, on National Women's Equality Day, it's important to me to recognize how far we have come in the 100 years since women (at least, white women) secured the right to vote. And it's important to me to recognize how far we still have to go.

My daughters have never seen a woman lead in the White House -- something that's about to change when we elect my friend Kamala Harris vice president in November. They've never seen women equally represented in Congress.

With a total of 101, there are more women than ever in the House of Representatives (a more diverse group than ever, too) -- but that number is still far too small. I hope to add one more name to the list when we flip this district and defend the House in November.

We need women at the table making the decisions to take this country forward because when women lead, America succeeds.

More than anything, I want to prove to my daughters that the promise of our country to foster everyone's potential -- regardless of gender, race, or any other characteristic -- is still something they can believe in.

Will you send a message about electing more women and standing up for women's rights by contributing $5 or more to our campaign today? With your help, we can turn 100 years of "Votes for Women" into votes for women like me this November. Thank you for helping to prove to my daughters that women can do anything. I hope I can help show your kids, too.
