This isn’t typical during a campaign, but I'm about to largely go offline for more than a week.

I'm Bill Hill, and I'm running for Congress in Alaska. In a few days, I'll be leaving the campaign trail and heading to Bristol Bay for the start of the world's largest wild sockeye salmon run, where I've been commercial fishing for most of my life.

Every summer, millions of salmon return to Bristol Bay in one of the greatest wild fisheries on Earth. The season only lasts a few short weeks, and when the fish are running, fishermen go to work. There's no asking the salmon to wait until after an FEC deadline.

So while most candidates spend the days before a major fundraising deadline calling donors, I'll be out on the water earning a paycheck and helping support my family.

That's the reality of running for Congress when you're not a millionaire.

Will you split a contribution between my campaign and Voter Protection Project today to help keep this grassroots campaign moving while I'm out on the water?

Before I head out to fish, there's something I need you to know:

This race is absolutely winnable.

National Republicans know it. That's why they'll spend heavily to protect Nick Begich and keep this seat in Republican hands.

Alaskans have rejected Republicans before, and if we have the resources to compete, we can do it again.

My campaign has never taken a dime of corporate PAC money. We're building this campaign the same way I've built my life — through hard work and support from regular people.

While I'm out on the water, I won't be able to spend the days leading up to our FEC deadline making fundraising calls like other candidates do. That's why I'm asking for your help today:

Will you split a donation between my campaign and Voter Protection Project before I head out to Bristol Bay? Every dollar helps us build the grassroots campaign we need to hit our FEC goal and win this race.

Thank you for standing with me.

P.S. I'll be offline and out on the water ahead of the FEC deadline, but this campaign won't stop fighting. Please split a donation between my campaign and Voter Protection Project today to help us keep building the grassroots movement that can win this race.

The Voter Protection Project is on an important mission: To end partisan gerrymandering and voter suppression by electing candidates at the state and federal levels that are forceful advocates for voting rights. Our enfranchisement agenda includes working to ensure that every state has automatic voter registration and online voter registration, convenient early voting, and independent redistricting commissions to ensure politicians are not able to draw their own maps.
