Noise, Concerns, and Public Safety
For noise complaints and other non-emergency City services,
call 311. For any emergency involving an immediate threat to life or property,
call 911. The City has developed a coordinated public safety plan involving SFPD, DEM, SFMTA, Rec & Park, CHP, Caltrans, the Presidio Trust, and other regional partners.
There will be 10 police officers present per block in the Marina.
Where Crowds Will Gather
The largest crowds are expected at Marina Green, Crissy Field, and Pier 39. If you are staying in, you may want to steer clear of these spots in the evening. The jetty out to the Wave Organ will be closed after dark, as it gets too dark to be out there safely.
If You Are Heading Out
The northern waterfront will be busy all day, and walking or biking will likely be easier than driving. Muni will run additional shuttle service connecting BART, Caltrain, and the waterfront, with extended service after the show to help people get home. Check
sfmta.com/july4 for shuttle routes and priority boarding locations.
A few things to plan around:
-
The Golden Gate Bridge will close to all traffic, including pedestrians and bicycles, from about 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM
-
Caltrans will begin lane and ramp closures on US-101 in San Francisco and Marin starting at 8:00 PM
-
If you travel between San Francisco and Marin County, expect delays and plan an alternate route.
Support Our Neighborhood
Many visitors will spend the day exploring before and after the show. If you are out and about, I hope you will join them in supporting the restaurants, shops, and small businesses that make our district such a wonderful place to call home.
This celebration is a chance to come together and mark a remarkable moment in our country's history. With a little planning, we can all enjoy it while keeping our neighborhood welcoming for the visitors joining us. As always, my office is here if you need anything.
Wishing you a happy and safe Fourth of July.
Sincerely,
Stephen Sherrill
District 2 Supervisor
