The woman called 911 around 3:35 a.m. and Los Angeles police were dispatched to the 9200 block of Nagle Avenue in Arleta, according to a news release. The ex-boyfriend, identified by police as Ruben Valle, broke into the woman’s home through a window, she said. Valle, 23, was found deceased at the scene, the release stated. The woman, who has not been identified, was transported to the hospital “with evidence of multiple blunt force injuries,” according to the release. Police are investigating the incident as a justifiable homicide, according to the release. It’s unclear whether the woman is in custody as of Saturday evening. The Los Angeles Police Department didn’t immediately respond to calls from The Times for comment. Los Angeles Times Man shot while sitting in car in Beverly Grove, Los Angeles police say A man was hospitalized after he was allegedly shot while sitting in a car in Beverly Grove early Sunday, according to police. It happened at around 2:30 a.m. near the intersection of Maryland Drive and S. La Jolla Avenue, Los Angeles Police Department officers told CBS LA. The victim told LAPD detectives that he was struck by gunshots while he was sitting in a vehicle in the area and that he then drove himself to a nearby hospital. At the latest, police said he was in stable condition. There was no information immediately available on the alleged gunman or the motive in the incident. LAPD officers did not provide further details as their investigation got underway on Sunday. CBS 2 Fight preceded fatal early-morning shooting of 28-year-old man in Northridge, police say Investigators are looking for a suspect in a shooting that led to the death of a 28-year-old man that occurred over the weekend. According to a Los Angeles Police Department media release, an “assault with a deadly weapon involving shots fired” call came out at approximately 4:30 a.m. Sunday in the 19100 block of Bryant Street in Northridge. The location provided by police appears to be within a gated apartment community. Officials said the victim was discovered by responding officers in the rear alley of an apartment building suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. LAPD identified him as 28-year-old Pedro Devora. Detectives’ preliminary findings indicated a fight involving multiple people occurred shortly before the shooting, but no details surrounding a suspect or suspects was available. The shooting was reported at 11:10 p.m. Sunday at the Las Torres bar at 11717 Victory Blvd., a Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman told City News Service. The victim and suspect first got into an argument, which led to a fight and the suspect allegedly shot the victim in the shoulder, she said. He had stable vital signs. Multiple firearms were recovered, along with spent casings, the officer said. Video from the scene showed a man being loaded into an ambulance and a handgun in a gutter next to a curb. The suspect fled the scene. MyNewsLA Man arrested after BB gun shooting during naked bike ride in downtown LA, police say man is facing charges after allegedly shooting two people with a BB gun at a naked bike riding event in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday. It happened around 11 a.m. near the intersection of Temple Street and North Alameda Street. Los Angeles police say a man dressed all in black was riding a scooter when he fired a BB gun at nude cyclists. Two victims were treated for lacerations at the scene. Further details about their conditions were not immediately available. The suspect was taken into custody and will be charged with assault with a deadly weapon, and more charges are pending, according to LAPD. Video from the scene showed a large turnout for the naked bike riding event. Video also appears to show a man being taken into custody by officers. ABC 7 Mother, 2-year-old son critically injured after head-on crash in South LA: LAPD A mother and her 2-year-old son were critically injured after a head-on crash in South Los Angeles on Saturday afternoon, police said. The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. in the Florence-Firestone area, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Officials say the toddler's mother was speeding while trying to get through the light at an intersection when she crashed with the other car. They were both taken to the hospital, the LAPD said. Inside the other car was a woman and her two children, according to the police department. The woman was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, and her children were not injured. NBC 4 Hostage call leads LAPD to illegal gambling operation in Koreatown; 26 detained Twenty-six people were detained at an illegal gambling site in Koreatown early Saturday morning, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Police responded to a tip of a gunman holding someone hostage just after 4 a.m. in the 3400 block of West 8th Street near Kingsley Drive, said LAPD spokesperson Officer Charles Miller. Police found an abandoned warehouse that was used as an illegal gambling site. Twenty-six people were detained and six of them were arrested on outstanding warrants. “We had a radio call of a male armed with a gun, and officers discovered an illegal gambling operation,” Miller said. The alleged gunman and hostage were not found at the scene and no injuries were reported, Miller said. Those arrested are in jail awaiting booking and no other information was available, he said. The rest of the people detained were released. Video footage obtained by KTLA shows about a dozen police officers with tactical gear outside the building. Nearly two dozen people appear to be detained with hand restraints.
