Summer is now here in Northwest Washington.

Over the next few months, our team is traveling across Snohomish, Island, San Juan, Skagit, and Whatcom counties to talk with voters. I want to make sure your voices guide the work I do in Congress and inform me on what matters most to the families I represent.

Before our second-quarter deadline, here is a quick look at how I have been working for our region since April: [[link removed]]

* Defending Our Oceans and Coastlines: We just secured a major victory for our marine ecosystems when the Trump administration attempted to dismantle the Ocean Observatories Initiative and remove critical monitoring equipment from the waters off our coast. Our community pushed back, the administration reversed course, and they will now redeploy those sensors. I will continue fighting for programs such as the Northwest Straits Commission that restore local habitats and protect the natural resources that support our economy.

* Building Stronger Infrastructure and Good-Paying Jobs: As the lead Democrat on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I know that strong local infrastructure creates good-paying jobs and keeps communities connected. That is why I am advancing legislation that will invest more than $580 billion in transportation projects, improve transit systems, restore fish passage by replacing culverts, and train the next generation of skilled workers.

* Welcoming the World to the Pacific Northwest: If you know me, you know I am a lifelong soccer fanatic, so I am excited to see the FIFA World Cup underway in Seattle. I was proud to support the bipartisan effort to bring the World Cup to our region and secure the federal investments needed for transportation and security. We get to show the entire world what makes the Pacific Northwest so special, while bringing a massive boost to our local businesses.

Whether it is lowering costs for working families, combating fentanyl, strengthening our transportation infrastructure, or bringing federal investments home to Northwest Washington, our priorities come from the conversations we have with you.

There is a lot of work ahead this summer, and I am ready to keep delivering the practical, effective representation our district deserves.
