The Trump administration wants trophy hunters in Alaska to bait bears with bacon grease and kill wolves and their pups where they sleep.

We're not going to let them rubber-stamp cruel, inhumane practices without a fight.

Allowing barbaric hunting tactics on Alaska's preserves is just one front of the administration's last-gasp assaults on wildlife in that state — but we're fighting back every step of the way.

On Monday we went to court to block more than 1.5 million acres of Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge from being opened to oil and gas drilling. Desecrating this pristine landscape with oil wells will push polar bears closer to extinction and decimate the coastal plain where caribou raise their calves.

Yesterday we filed a separate lawsuit to fight a plan to open more than 18 million acres of the western Arctic to drilling. It's obscene that in the middle of a pandemic, with wildfires raging and hurricanes threatening our coasts, the administration's priority is to worsen the climate crisis by bailing out the dirty oil industry.

Then just moments ago we took action to restore a ban on tactics like killing wolves in their dens and baiting grizzly bears with donuts.

It's not fair or ethical to bait wild animals with sweet-smelling food and then shoot them, especially on preserves that are meant to protect wildlife and biological diversity.

We're at a pivotal moment to save life on Earth. We can't end the extinction crisis as long as trophy hunters are slaughtering wildlife for their body parts and industry is decimating their habitat.
