This is an important one ? please take a look? ? ? ? ? Friend ? we're reaching out for help. Last weekend we flagged that our plans for vote-by-mail efforts targeting environmental swing voters are currently underfunded.

A group of donors has put together a triple-matching pool ? up to $70,000 ? to help turn things around, but it expires in less than a week and we're still only 50% of the way there.

Meeting this goal matters. All our research is showing that turnout from environmental voters is likely to be larger than the polling margin in Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and other swing states.

If vote-by-mail efforts come up short, we could lose every single one of those states to Trump. Right now we're behind ? here's where things stand:
? ? 2020 AUGUST VOTE-BY-MAIL FUNDRAISING TARGET

PROGRESS: 52% to goal

Every contribution before August 31 will be tripled to scale up our plans for
vote-by-mail and other efforts targeting environmental swing voters FOR IMMEDIATE REVIEW

This is a longer email than we usually send ? but the details here have huge implications for whether we can swing an environmental majority in the Senate and who will sit in the White House. At stake is whether or not we'll be able to advance federal policies that put people most impacted by pollution and climate change ? especially communities of color, Indigenous communities, and low-wealth communities ? at the center of solutions and leave a livable planet for future generations. Please, I hope you'll take a minute to read it over.

We recently added five new members to the Dirty Dozen ? all Senate candidates. For nearly 25 years, our Dirty Dozen program has targeted candidates who consistently side against the environment and are running in races in which the environmental movement has a serious chance to affect the outcome. We defeat the Dirty Dozen, cycle after cycle ? in 2018, we defeated 84% of the anti-environment candidates named to the Dirty Dozen.

Each of these races are polling incredibly tight right now. Each race will likely be decided by mail-in ballots. Each race pits an environmental leader against a rubber stamp for Trump's racist, environmentally destructive policies.

If vote-by-mail efforts come up short, we could lose all of them.

Martha McSally: In Arizona, a recent poll has the race within two points. Martha McSally has a lifetime LCV score of just 7%. She supported Trump's moves to gut meaningful limits on carbon pollution, and has taken over $650,000 in campaign donations from the corporate oil and gas industries. This is a race that can easily be swung by the environmental movement, but we all need to step up. [link removed]

Steve Daines: In Montana, Senator Daines is a racist climate change denier with a lifetime LCV score of just 6%. This is a state where Senate races have been decided by margins of hundreds of votes, and polling in the state is particularly tricky ? but right now Daines is in the lead. Please, pitch in today. Gifts of any size ? even $5 ? will help. [link removed]

Thom Tillis: In North Carolina, Senator Tillis has denied climate change even after his own state has been hit by devastating hurricanes in recent years. He's pocketed hundreds of thousands of dollars from corporate polluters ? but we have a shot at beating him. We have to turn this one around if we want to win a majority in the Senate. [link removed]

John James: In Michigan, political newcomer John James is challenging a pro-environment senator ? and the race is tightening. James has said he supports the Trump agenda "2000%" ? we could lose our shot at the Senate if he takes this seat. I'm hoping we can count on your help. [link removed]

Bottom line ? each of these races will be decided by what the environmental movement does now.

The absolute best thing you can do right now to help swing this election is make an emergency gift. Even $5 can make a difference ? [link removed]

I promise that we can do this, if we do it together. Thank you, friend, for everything you do.
