Minnesota’s Republican Congressman Tom Emmer says he’s not scared of being called a racist or an Islamophobe anymore.

And that’s MAGA in a nutshell. Racist, xenophobic, anti-immigrant, and proud of it.

Let’s make something clear. 95% of Somali-Americans here in Minnesota are US citizens. They came here “the right way,” as Republicans like to say, and have earned the same rights and liberties as any other American under our Constitution.

To say that Somali-Americans like Ilhan Omar should “go the hell back to where they came” is to say that people who may look differently, pray differently, or practice different cultures don’t belong in America. We reject that fundamentally.

America’s entire founding was based on the idea that anyone can come here and live as they choose, as long as they respect their neighbors and follow the law. These statements about the need to “assimilate” from Tom Emmer are stupid, un-American, and disgraceful.

If you agree, help reelect Ilhan Omar by chipping in today. Ilhan will never back down to these racist bullies, and we’re proud to support her as she works to protect ALL of our Minnesota communities from Trump’s harmful agenda.

MAGA’s obsession with Somalis, Haitians, Mexicans, and every other group that they want to cast aside shows that they truly don’t believe in the promise of America.

They are too blinded by racism to see that the same people who they constantly target are the ones carrying on the great American Dream each and every day. We’re not going to back down.
