Urge your senators to pass the Delivering for America Act immediately.

Friend –

We want to make this clear: The U.S. Postal Service is an essential government service outlined in the Constitution. Yet, its most executive offices are treating it like a private business facing bankruptcy right now – and it needs to stop.

President Trump's Postmaster General, Louis DeJoy, testified before Congress on Friday and Monday that he does not plan to reverse the cuts to service that have already been implemented amid widespread delays in mail delivery. His hearings only confirmed that we must all continue to fight to save the USPS, starting with Congress.

Take action now by sending a message to your senators urging them to pass the Delivering for America Act. <[link removed]>

This bill will prohibit and reverse any changes to USPS operations that would reduce or impede its service during COVID-19, and provides $25 billion in funding. It's a critical piece of legislation that the House already passed – and now we must tell the Senate to do the same.

ACLU Supporter, earlier this year, President Trump called USPS "a joke." But there's nothing funny about him or his administration's steady degradation of an institution that breathes so much life into our democracy.

In a pivotal election year that is shaped by a global pandemic, the USPS is more crucial than ever to census data collection, provision of COVID-related supplies, life-critical functions such as the delivery of prescription drugs – and voting by mail, key to guaranteeing the right to vote and protecting people's health right now.

Postmaster DeJoy may have stated that he will temporarily suspend changes to USPS until after the election, but he is still not reversing changes already implemented. That means COVID-19 will keep impacting USPS's efficiency, reliability, and availability. We can't allow this to continue, ACLU Supporter.

For the sanctity of this essential government service, and for all of us depending on it: Urge your senators to support the USPS as soon as they return to session. <[link removed]>
