Dear neighbor,

Last week, I joined a roundtable with Congressional leaders, spoke at a press conference with other Democratic veterans in Congress, and gave remarks at the American Logistics Association for their annual Congressional Caucus and Public Policy Forum. On the House floor, I gave a special shoutout to an outstanding recent CA-31 high school graduate and celebrated the Glendora High School baseball team's recent championship win. I also met and congratulated our district's talented Congressional Art Competition winner!

Rep. Cisneros Wants to know...
Do you think President Trump should be holding bipartisan affordable housing legislation hostage?
Yes
No
Taking this survey will sign you up for future news and updates from our office.

Last week, the House passed a bipartisan, bicameral housing legislation that will help families afford a house. Now, Trump is holding that legislation hostage unless Congress passes his voter suppression bill. People are crushed under the weight of rising costs, but he doesn’t care. He’s completely out of touch with the needs of American people.

I was grateful to join leaders in Congress this week for a Congressional roundtable discussion to commemorate the 50th anniversary of women's admission to our nation's military academies. Everyone that gathered recognizes the landmark importance of women being allowed into the academies and I will always stand in support of their inclusion and object to any attempts to limit their participation.

I also joined a press conference with my fellow Democratic veterans in Congress and spoke about my extreme opposition and concern over legislation that hurts our nation’s veterans. I will always support legislation that expands our veterans’ quality of life and protects their access to the compensation and benefits they’ve earned, but H.R. 9237 accomplishes neither of those goals. Instead, this package would cut at least $60 billion from veterans' benefits over the next ten years. If House Republicans were serious about taking care of our veterans, they wouldn’t combine a critical bipartisan bill with harmful legislation that cuts veteran's disability ratings and increases the burden on veterans facing home foreclosure.

I had the honor of meeting with the Military Reform Coalition, a group of organizations representing women and trans servicemembers and veterans. We discussed the long standing issues with sexual assault within the military and their challenges accessing reproductive and gender affirming healthcare within the DoD and the VA. Our veterans and servicemembers deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. I will continue to fight for the DoD to be transparent about sexual assault statistics and support efforts to hold convicted offenders accountable.

I had the pleasure of speaking at the American Logistics Association for their annual Congressional Caucus and Public Policy Forum. I enjoyed discussing bipartisan solutions to key issues affecting our servicemembers and the military resale system. I will always fight to ensure our servicemembers, their families, veterans, caregivers, and military retirees, have the best quality of life possible.

Last week, I congratulated Cassidy Nord on winning the Congressional Art Competition in CA-31! Your creativity and talent is exemplary, we are so proud to display your art on the walls of the Capitol!

I also gave a floor speech commending Soo Hak Kwon from La Puente, CA on receiving his high school diploma last week, at 91 years old. Soo, you have reminded us all that with dedication and focus, it is never too late to achieve your dreams!

Additionally, I celebrated the Glendora High School baseball team's victory in the CIF State So Cal Division III regional championship on the House floor. Go Tartans!
