JOHN,
With just two days before our FEC deadline, here's the throughline I can't stop thinking about.
The same Congress that won't check this President's war is the one making your life more expensive and making you less safe.
- Rob Wittman voted for the bill that cuts $698 billion from Medicaid — coverage as many as 250,000 Virginians could lose — to help pay for tax cuts for their billionaire donors.
- He backed the tariffs, driving up what you pay at the register.
- He voted for the farm bill that locked in the largest cut to food assistance in the program's history.
I take that personally. I was raised by a single mom who kept us fed on food stamps. I know exactly what those programs are, and exactly who they catch when everything else gives way. I will never treat them as someone else's problem.
This is why oversight matters, and why a Democratic majority in Congress matters. A Congress that answered to you instead of the donor class would not be cutting your health care to fund a war you never asked for.
Help me close in on our fundraising goal before midnight on the 30th. Chip in $21, one for every year I wore the uniform.
