We need leadership that brings people together to build a better future, and we can’t let anyone ‘take Canada back’ with policies and positions that oppose the fundamental human rights and dignity of Canadians.
Friend, I’m proud to be part of a Liberal caucus that believes in LGBTQ2 rights and women’s rights, and sees Canada’s diversity as our greatest strength.
It’s clear though that Conservative leader Erin O’Toole has an important decision to make that will help Canadians understand his vision for the future of our country:
Will he stand up for the rights of all Canadians, or condone the politics of hate within his own caucus?
My view on this couldn’t be more clear — Mr. O’Toole needs to remove Conservative MP Derek Sloan from his caucus, and refuse to sign his nomination papers as a Conservative candidate.
After all, Derek Sloan has:
Compared women’s rights to control their own bodies to ‘slavery’
Supported the cruel and discredited practice of anti-gay conversion therapy
Attacked the loyalties of Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer and accused her of working for China
And much more
Sloan has already said this week that he expects “to be an integral member of Erin O’Toole’s team.”
We need leadership that brings people together to build a better future, and we can’t let anyone ‘take Canada back’ with policies and positions that oppose the fundamental human rights and dignity of Canadians.
That’s why the first item on Erin O’Toole’s list needs to be removing Derek Sloan from his team. Add your name if you agree:
