“We need more leaders who are actually focused on solving the root causes of suffering in people’s lives and creating a society where every single person can thrive,” Jess told Jacobin, “Right now, this is a moment where we can push forward and make progress in our country. The last thing that I wanted to do was look back in five or ten years and realize that I had an opportunity to make a difference here and didn’t take advantage of it. That is one of the things that inspired me to get in the race.”
This campaign is not focused on harm reduction or philanthropy. We’re focused on building a movement. We need bold leaders like Jess who will stand up for working people. We need elected officials who are unafraid to not only call out our country’s crises of health care, housing, climate change and leadership, but to propose a better way.
