Friend,
I believe talk is cheap. So, today I want to tell you not what I'll say, but what I've done.
In the Tennessee statehouse, in the deep minority, with everything stacked against us, I led the fight to cut the grocery tax, so working families could keep more of their own money.
I passed a law opening advanced classes to kids who'd been overlooked, because a child's future shouldn't depend on whether a teacher happens to recommend him.
I helped take down a corrupt Speaker when almost no one else would say a word.
And I became the first Black chairman of a legislative caucus in Tennessee history — not by waiting my turn, but by fighting for what I believe in.
So when they redrew our maps this year to silence working people and Black Tennesseans, I was on that House floor and watched it happen. I voted no, of course. But in a Republican supermajority, it wasn't enough to stop them.
That’s why I'm taking this fight to Washington.
I have a record of getting things done, not just lip service. Now I'm asking for the resources to do it on a bigger stage. Will you chip in $25 to back a fighter with a record to prove it? [ [link removed] ]
